Between the parks is Ikspiari – A speciality shopping mart The Story of IKSPIARI Once, long ago, the land where IKSPIARI now stands was a sandy shore. Here, a sea-trading town came into being and gradually gained renown for its skilful boat-builders and sailors. Over the years, merchants from around the world made their way to this “town,” bringing a rich variety of products and ideas. As cultures and concepts from around the world were absorbed and transformed, the “town” acquired an identity all its own. Many kinds of artists, including jewellery designers and musicians, settled here and contributed to the town's unique creative culture. The “town” grew and became a centre not only for trade but also a place where communities gathered for festivals and games. In later years, the ambiance of the “town” attracted set designers, costume designers and other artists from the world of entertainment. And the townspeople began to express their concern for the environment and children everywhere. Today, the history of the “town” can be seen in the various areas. The by-gone era of sea trading has left its mark on “Museum Lane” and “The Courtyard.” The early years of creativity in the “town” can be seen in “Chefs' Row” and parts of “Gracious Square,” while the mercantile culture is reflected in “Traders' Passage.” The tradition of festivals and games lives on in “Trail and Track.” “Theatre Front,” “B’Way,” parts of “Gracious Square,” and “Cinema Complex” are representations of the culture of entertainment. "Garden Site" is the extension of the concern for nature in IKSPIARI. The shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities in IKSPIARI, even its streets and courtyards, convey the mythology and history of the “town.” They give IKSPIARI an atmosphere of excitement and fascination never seen before.
