Forster to Nelson Bay
Continuing South, we turn off the highway and drive through Tuncurry and Forster to Pacific Palms, to our next stop at the famous Blueys.
Blueys Retreat at Pacific Palms provides the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind in total comfort. The ultimate city getaway with two and three bedroom 4 star self-contained luxury homes in a Resort setting - swimming pool, heated spa, tennis court and award-winning licensed restaurant. Close to beautiful beaches, famous for their white sand, clear water and great surf and surrounded by National Parks, lakes and rivers.
Their Kingfisher Restaurant is renowned for its innovative menus with seafood a specialty. It was no surprise, how exquisite the meals were. Worth the trip by itself.

As we had a little time to spare, while continuing south towards Nelsons bay, we take the turn-off to Seal Rocks to enjoy the sensational views from the lighthouse, across the beaches and ocean. www.northcoastholidayparks.com.au/our_parks/seal_rocks_holiday_park/
For our accommodation we have chosen the Nelson Resort. Set on the edge of the shopping precinct and overlooking the bay, the Nelson Resort is ideally located. After a recent total refurbishment, the rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. It is staking claim to being the regions premier hotel.
The restaurant and coffee shop was a delight and also very popular with the locals, a sure sign of the quality of service.

Only a short walk from our hotel is the aptly named Zest Restaurant. A local legend for the last nine years, as one of the finest in the Mid North Coast. In actual fact Chef Proprietor, Glenn Thompson is twice winner of the Mid North Coast Signature Dish Competition. Zest is also the only restaurant in Port Stephens to be awarded a chef’s hat in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Glenn is a clear leader in this field and his food is elegant, inspired and crafted from the best fresh local produce.

From the water is always a great way to view, so we took the opportunity to enjoy a Moonshadow Cruise.
Moonshadow is an award-winning cruise business with three vessels equipped with boom nets, waterslide, hydrophones, underwater video cameras, spacious decks and licensed bars. Daily dolphin watch cruises are available (option for buffet lunch), with whale watching cruises May to November. Twilight dinner cruise and Broughton Island National Park cruises are all on offer.
We really loved the romantic Twilight Dinner Cruise. The fine food and service, the soft lighting and the sparkle of the shore lights added up to a memorable evening.
