Steam Trains to Oysters
As our morning tea was so filling, we skip lunch and take the short trip to Wauchope.
Timbertown Heritage Theme Park.
This is a truly unique theme park depicting a timbertown of the 1880-1930 period. The famous steam train operates daily, bullock shows, steam sawmill and eateries are all within Timbertown so you can enjoy the good old days. Timbertown is a must see when travelling on Tourist Drive 8, The Legendary Pacific Coast or staying in Wauchope or Port Macquarie.
It is wonderful to see the expressions on the faces of the children, when we ride the steam train.

Just North of the Port Macquarie turn off we find Cassegrain Wines with its rolling vineyards, calming picnic grounds and featured magnificent rose gardens. Conveniently located on the Pacific Highway, the contemporary and spacious Cellar Door (open daily) provides visitors with the opportunity to taste the full range of Cassegrain Wines and the open plan nature of the winery allows visitors to view the winemaking team at work.
Adjacent to cellar door is “The restaurant at Cassegrain” which is also open daily.

A delicious diversion, as we head back South. We call into a local oyster farm.
Stones Oysters and Seafood is a family business run by Merle and John Stone. They specialise in fresh Rock Oysters direct from their farms in the Manning River and Wallis Lakes. They can provide fresh seafood trays for your special events. Conveniently located just 3 minutes from the Hwy and are open every day (except Christmas Day). Take the Harrington exit off the highway and look for the large building at 479 Harrington Rd on the left, just short of a bridge.
Call in and taste their fresh locally sourced oysters, prawns, fish, crabs and lobsters.
