World Voyage with P&O

THE GOOD LIFE

On P&O’s Aurora

We are entitled to few really good things during our very short time on this planet.
One of the things I can recommend is a cruising holiday. When the invitation came to sail on P&O Cruises Aurora, I thought that on behalf of you, our loyal readers that I should accept. Please read on.
The Aurora was on a World Voyage, from England to Australia and return in 105 days. We boarded in Sydney for a three-day leg to Burnie in Tasmania and then to Melbourne.
The three days was hardly enough to explore the ship as she is of 76,000 tons and 270 metres long. The 939 cabins can accommodate over 1,800 passengers, ranging from penthouses, to suites and mini-suites with balconies, staterooms and standards with balconies to outside and inside standards. Included are 22 cabins for disabled passengers.
Other delightful features are 5 lounges, 12 bars, 2 sensational restaurants and a deck café’
The Michelin rated Chef Marco Pierre White has designed the menu for Café Bordeaux where even a simple breakfast was a special meal. (Just as well we only had three days, as I do enjoy creative food).
The Pennant Grill on Deck 12 aft – wow what a setting! The perfect place for cocktails, followed by an enchanting three-course dinner, under millions of stars that follow another brilliant sunset.
As with other P&O cruises, each night you receive a mini newspaper with all the activities for the next day. There was so much to choose from, I think you would need the World Voyage to try them all out.
The Curzon Theatre seats 600 at each session; its 74-foot wide stage actually revolves, allowing West End style productions.
Each of the bars has a special theme; Charlie’s features a baby grand piano to entertain whilst enjoying a glass or two from the champagne selection.
The Crow’s Nest, as the name implies is on the top deck and is 105 feet above the waterline and above the Bridge. A sensational place to view the sunset and have a pre-dinner cocktail.
Just in case you might want to be indoors for a while, the Playhouse shows a different recent release movie several times each day.

These are just a small sample and the best thing with Liner cruising is you have a choice of how many legs you would like to do – a week, a month or the whole cruise.
