In Search of the Ideal Hotel Chain
We head to Singapore.
As we enjoy life, travelling around the world to find the right destinations for you, the mature travellers of the world, we are always on the look-out for the ideal accommodation group.
Our research has indicated that Australians tend to develop loyalty to a brand. So having had some very enjoyable experiences with Toga Far East (TFE), with the re-opening on fully refurbished Hotel Kurrajong in Canberra (www.maturetraveller.com.au/hotel-kurrajong.html ) and the new Vibe Hotel at Marysville, Victoria (www.maturetraveller.com.au/vibe-hotels-marysville.html ), we looked at staying with partner properties, Far East Hospitality (FEH) on our visit to Singapore.
We are heading to Singapore to review a Holland America Cruise, which will take us from Singapore to Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar for 14 days, returning to Singapore.
Singapore is only a small island, but it seems to keep reinventing itself and is always fascinating to visit, so we decided to stay for a few more days after the cruise.
A quick Internet search revealed the FEH have ten properties to choose from. More research indicated the Rendezvous on Bras Basah Road would suit our requirements. Being close to a MRT station and the cheaper shopping options on Bugis Street, as well as the Super shopping of Orchard Road.
First impressions – On arrival in our taxi from the Port, we were immediately greeted by the concierge who collected our luggage as we were ushered to check in.
We had opted for the upgrade to the Club Floors as it gave us access to the benefits of Club Rendezvous (club lounge):
Priority check-in / check-out
All-day comfort food
Complimentary breakfast, evening cocktail & canapés (6pm -8pm)
Pressing & shoe polishing services
High-speed internet Wi Fi
Limousine transfer service
Access to airport lounge
Deals with exclusive lifestyle partners.
The Club was very worthwhile as the majority of other guests were mature travellers as well. The evening cocktails became a very social event, as we talked to people from all over the world. Enjoying their reports on what they had experienced that day.
One of the high points of our stay and this was backed up by comments of the other guests, was the quality of service. The staff are brilliant and every request was met with a smile and excellent attention.
We were so impressed, we decided to visit the another five FEH hotels and see about their suitability for our readers.
